CEM Cloud-enabled Management

The clients that need to be managed are becoming more and more mobile. There are no fixed times when you can provide a client with new software or software updates. Do you know this problem too?

Altiris has the solution with version 7.5 and CEM (Cloud-enabled Management).

CEM enables the mobile clients, for example in a hotel room, to receive important software updates. Software distribution or inventory of remote clients is also possible. The notebooks do not have to be connected to your company infrastructure via VPN.

In order to use the Cloud-enabled Management, you need a so-called Internet Gateway, which is located in the DMZ and thus accessible from the Internet. This gateway works like a proxy and establishes the connection via HTTPS to the Altiris Notification Server.

The Altiris agent on the client recognizes when it is outside the company network and therefore automatically connects to the Internet gateway. The client then communicates entirely over HTTPS, encrypting the transmitted data with SSL.

If a mobile client is lost or stolen, the authorization to communicate with the notification server can be easily revoked. Afterwards, this client will no longer receive any software or updates.
