Altiris ITMS 8.5 RU4 released

Now Release Update No. 4 of the Symantec IT Management Suite 8.5 (ITMS 8.5 RU4) has already been released. This update can be installed immediately via the Symantec Installation Manager (SIM).
We have of course compiled the best innovations for you!

These new features were realized with RU4:

  • Additional supported platforms have been added for the Symantec Management Agent
    • Windows 10 (2004 release) and Windows Server (2004 release)
    • Windows Server 2019
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and CentOS 8
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.1 and CentOS 8.1
  • Another supported OS has also been added for the Notification Server installation: Windows Server 2019
  • SQL Server 2019 is now supported
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 is now supported
  • ADOMD.NET 13.0 is also supported, which is required for the configuration of IT Analytics.
  • In the Event Console (ITMS and SMS) Microsoft Silverlight has been completely replaced by HTML 5
  • When configuring Resource Import Rules for Active Directory, you can now select LDAP ports 389 and 636
  • The Install Windows OS Task in the Deployment Solution can now be customized to override the default installation path of the Symantec Management Agent and run the installation at a different location.
  • You can also configure Advanced Settings for driver import in the Deployment Solution, under Settings→Deployment→Driver Management and edit imported drivers.
  • For Windows images, the image management has been revised and redundant image packages can now be detected and deleted.
  • The Prepare for Image Capture Task has received two new options
  • Execute CMD script before Sysprep
  • Remove extra user profiles (lets you define on which profile the Sysprep Task should be executed and deletes the remaining profiles)
  • The Management Agent on the clients can be automatically upgraded to the latest version (only on Windows) when using the Deploy Image or Restore BackUp Image tasks. By default this feature is already enabled
  • The Patch Management Solution has received a new filter option for the Software Update Policies. This option can be found in the “Advanced” tab.
  • The option Reopen applications after restart can now be selected in Patch Management (only for Windows clients).
  • Via Run Script it is now possible to create Inventory Rules based on a script (for Detection and Applicability Rules).
  • Managed Software Delivery has been improved. It is now possible to use No pending system reboot during a compliance check to ensure that software is only installed if no client restart is planned.
  • For the first time in RU4, all associations (parent, child) of a specific software resource can be displayed via the Associations tab.
  • If HTTP and HTTPS are available for communication in the software portal, communication via HTTPS can now be forced.
  • The Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) software has received changes for the installation of package files on Mac computers. Starting with version 14.2.5323.2000 the correct OS version must be specified.
  • The Symantec ASDK (Administrator Software Deployment Kit) Help can now also be accessed at https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleId=193432.
  • Two different help systems are now integrated in the IT Management Suite 8.5 RU4. If F1 presses in the management console do not produce any results for a request, the Broadcom TechDocs page is now also available.
