What does this mean?
Every software product has a date on which it is released. This is called the «general availability». This is the current version of a product. This version is fully supported and continues to be developed.
The goal of a software company is to efficiently use the capital for software development. The maintenance of different versions of a software is very expensive. So it helps to reduce the versions of a software.
That is why old versions of a software are set to End of Life status earlier nowadays. End of Life is when a whole product (including all releases and versions) is no longer sold or developed. There is no more support for this product.
